About Us
Having been a keen follower of the Eurovision with my very first memory of Celine Dion winning the contest for Switzerland in Dublin, I started to watch the contest every year after that and this was then followed by watching the Irish national final in hoping Ireland would send a successful act to Eurovision. My favourite memories of the Eurovision were Ireland's three successive victories in 1992, 1993 and 1994 respectively.
As we all know, the competition has got much bigger and has seen many changes. These changes include, a two semi-final format and recent changes that had been made in regards to the voting procedures.
After having watched the contest from the comfort of my own sofa, I decided I had to go to the Eurovision and actually gain the experience and the thrill of being in the audience. Therefore, I decided to attend the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest held in Belgrade. A total number of 43 countries competed that year. Having received my accreditation, I met the participants, attended official parties and made so many contacts as well as friends.
As I come from a strong computing and design background, I decided to create a website devoted to Eurovision, national finals as well as promoting and doing interviews with stars past and present. Songs for Europe went online in July 2008 and is continuing to do well and make many new friends.
There will be vacancies for anyone interested in doing reports or any interviews. If you would like to get involved, you can e-mail me on the contact page or by clicking here
I hope you enjoy this website as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
