Interview - Gipsy.cz (Czech Rep 09)

Hi guys! Thank you for making time to do this interview.
1 - Could you introduce yourselves and tell us where in the Czech Rep you are from?
We are Gipsy.cz from Prague. Trying to bring you some fun and energy by our music.
2 - How was Gipsy.cz formed and how did you come up with the name?
Five years ago, our basic tandem, Radoslav "Gipsy" Banga and Vojta Lavicka met in Prague, trying to combinate different musical experiences, and we see that it was a good idea! :-)
3 - You participated in the Eurosong National Final selections in 2007 and 2008. How did you find these experiences?
It was a good experience for us, no matter of the result we got some skills of working on the big stage, and also a lot of people liked our songs.
4 - Apart from the Eurosong, could you tell us a little more about the highlights of your career to date?
We played a lot of great events, like legendary festival in Glastonbury or at the Bestival or at Notting Hill Carnival in the UK, while cooperating with the famous british foundation CM, or in Brussels and Lisbon, Amsterdam Kiev or Seoul and Ulsan in South Korea. We have been trying to make people happy all the 15 countries we played at till now.

5 - Could you tell us how you were selected as the Czech Rep representatives for this year?
Czech Television has nominated us, and Czech TV viewers choose the song Aven Romale.
6 - Your song is quite unique and stands out from the other entries this year. Do you believe you can take the Czech Rep into their first ever Eurovision final?
Yes, we believe that we can do it with a liitle help from all the nice people in the Europe, who are ready to feel like gipsies for some time by discovering the miracle of music, and seeing into the mirror of rhythm.
7 - This is the country's third participation at Eurovision. The two previous entries were not placed too well in the final standings in the semi-final. Why do you think this was?
Bad choice of Czech TV viewers in last 2 years, maybe? :-)
8 - Have you any big ideas on a stage presentation or will it be something similar to what we have seen in the preview video?
We will ask Supergipsy to be with us again :-), but no special effects - music, rhythm and joy are the best think to present...
9 - This year, the jury will have a say in selecting the winner as well as the public televote. Do you see this as a good thing?
If the jury will be nice to good songs, why not? ;-)
10 - Have you heard many of this year's entries and do you see any in particular as a favourite to win?
We heard some songs, some of them are nice, but we have no favourite in there...
11 - Have you any plans on promotion across Europe?
We played a lot of countries before, and we would like to go on after ESC again of course...
12 - Finally, is there anything you would like to say to our readers?
Aven Romale, Aven UK, Aven Ireland! Come on and join us in the wagon of modern gipsies! Lets have some fun! Together!
