Elena Gheorghe will represent Romania this year in Moscow with a song titled 'The Balkan Girls.' Romania will be taking part in the 1st semi-final under position #14.
This year's Romanian representative is actually half Romanian and half Macedonian. Aged at only three years old, Elena made her debut on the folk music scene along with her mother singing the song 'Sus în Deal în Poieniţă.' Whilst in fifth grade, Elena joined the Children's National Palace and that was where her music career started to take off. From the year 2000 on, Elena started to win numerous trophies for her wonderful performances on stage. In 2006, Elena opened up her very own dance school which is named 'Passitos.' To date, Elena has been working with many artists, choreographers and directors.
In selecting the Romanian representative for Moscow, a combination of jury and televoting was used. Therefore, Elena Gheorghe was pronounced the winner after beating off tough competition from the Blaxy Girls with their song 'Dear Mama.'
This song seen as a favourite to qualify for the Eurovision final in May, with a slim chance of winning the competition outright.
Former Eurovision entrant who made a return was Nico (ESC 2008, Romania), but failed to qualify for the National Final.

DIARMUID'S THOUGHTS
A great Euro pop song which will definitely get the audience on the dance floor. It has a great beat and is balkan flavoured as the title suggests. This song cannot be written out from the competition either.
