The Ukraine will be represented this year by Svetlana Loboda who will be singing the song 'Be My Valentine (Anti-Crisis Girl)!' in the 2nd semi-final under position #17.
Svetlana was born on the 18th October in 1982 in the country's capital of Kiev. Having studied the piano as well as conducting, composing, designing, being an actress and a TV host in both the Ukraine and Russia, Svetlana is kept very busy, but it has all paid off as she is now one of the most successful singers in her country at present. From a very early age, Svetlana had always shown an interest in music and went to Music School where she studied the piano.
Fourteen songs took part in the Ukrainian National Final with Svetlana being seen as the favourite to go to Moscow. After a combination of jury and televoting, Svetlana won by six points over her nearest rivals.
The Ukraine is seen as a dark horse this year and it is a song that cannot be written off as the country has been very successful in the Eurovision and are well known for their excellent stage shows.
No former Eurovision participants took part in the Ukrainian National Final.
